P. Murray Performing LIVE | Friday, June 11, Harlem NYC - Billie's Black Restaurant | Doors Open 7:30pm - BE THERE
For the last few decades, the R&B and Pop music scenes have evolved tremendously. From R&B artists with a rugged and edgy sound to pop artists who incorporate hip hop into their music. However, today it seems most artists produce the same catchy tunes and hooks, with their only intention of selling records. Fortunately, there still exists a breed of artists who not only can produce an infectious tune, but are committed to preserving the integrity and the true art of singing. P. Murray belongs to that breed.
P.Murray’s voice can be described as precise, clear, soft and rich, yet powerful, which produces an overall smooth sound. Murray who is originally from Breezy Point, NY began playing the piano at age five and started singing at age nine. His talent was greatly supported by his close-knit family, which led him to persue his talents via private instruction & specialized schools. These included F.H. LaGuardia HS for Music & Art and the Performing Arts in New York City, often referred to as the "Fame" school, and claims alumni like Kelis, Marlon Wayans, Adrian Grenier, and Wynter Gordon. P. made a point of continuing his education and takes pride in his Bacholer's Degree in Vocal Performance from the Catholic Unviersity of America under the instruction of its Vocal Department Chair, Sharon Christman, a veteran coloratura soprano who has sung the difficult role of the Queen of The Night in Mozart's the Magic Flute on Opera stages across the country including the Met.
Murray’s impressive technical experience and range is evidenced throughout his music, It is obvious Murray draws his inspiration from nearly every genre of music, including rock, pop, R&B, classical, and Hip-Hop. From artists like Michael Jackson, James Taylor, Babyface, and all the way to composers like Mozart, he can reach his r&b/pop and classical audiences easily. However, Murray’s ability to magnetize his fans doesn’t end there. He also creates tracks for his hip hop lovers. “Now I Know,” a mixtape favorite from this first mixtape, "Few Good Men: The Remixes," uses heartfelt lyrics and Murray’s passionate voice to relay a story of a love gone awry over the head-knocking Kanye West instrumental from the Cam'Ron hit, "Down & Out" Though this is the first time Murray has promoted himself as a solo artist, his reservations are few and far between.
Having received accolades from well-known writers/produers such as E-Squared's Lil' Eddie & Eritza Laues (112, MJ, Blu Cantrell, Paula Abdul), and ground-breaking & established artists including Ledisi (2-time Grammy nominee) and Chester Gregory (The Jackie Wilson Story, Hairspray, Cry Baby), P. Murray feels confident in his path towards a steady and enjoyable career in an often-times volitile industry. Currently working with amazing talents such as SteffNasty of the BeatBangghaz (Trey Songz), J Reed of the R&B Commission, John "SoulKeyz" McGee, SeanMichael Rodgers of HarlemBoy University (Uptown Live NYC Showcase), and the LoungeLizzards, Murray’s next project, the debut EP entitled "First Draft." is sure to make its mark in the industry. It’s Murray’s dedication to the art of music which will build longevity to his career.
